Vay Belle Blackman, age 91, of East Moline, Illinois died Saturday, June 26, 2010 at Hope Creek Care Center, East Moline, surrounded by her loving family.
Funeral services will be at 11:00 A.M., Thursday, July 1, 2010 at Mount Zion Missionary Baptist Church, 1501-6th Avenue, East Moline. Visitation is from 4:00 - 6:00 P.M., Wednesday, June 30, 2010 at Esterdahl Mortuary & Crematory, Ltd., 6601 38th Avenue, Moline. Burial is in Riverside Cemetery, Moline. Memorials may be made to Mt. Zion Missionary Baptist Church, East Moline.
Vay Belle was born June 15, 1919 in Bells, TN, the daughter of Talton and Anna (Christ) Cole. She married Willie C. Blackman Sr. on June 17, 1945. He preceded her in death in 1996.
Vay Belle was a homemaker for many years and eventually worked for 22 years for the State of Illinois Mental Health Center in East Moline and Galesburg, IL retiring in January 1986.
