Vera F. Freeland

Vera F. Freeland, 86, of Rock Island, IL, died Monday, July 4, 2016, at Silver Cross Health and Rehab, Rock Island, IL.

Funeral services will be held at 10 a.m. Friday, July 8, 2016, at Grace Community of the Nazarene, 507 1st Street, Colona, IL.  Visitation will be from 4 to 7 p.m. Thursday, July 7, 2016, at Esterdahl Mortuary & Crematory, Ltd., 6601 38th Avenue, Moline.  Burial will be at Rose Lawn Memorial Estate.  Memorials may be made to Grace Community of the Nazarene or to Friendship Manor.

Vera was born on April 3, 1930, in Martinsville, IL, the daughter of Levi William and Grace Blunk Mosher.  She married George Freeland on July 8, 1954, in Henderson, KY, and he preceded her in death on September 29, 2007.  From 1984 – 2006, she worked as a home care aid for the Henry County Health Department.

Vera was a very active member of Grace Community of the Nazarene.  There, she served as a Sunday school teacher, a member of Mission Society and Church Board, and she was an active prayer warrior.  Vera was an avid reader and enjoyed baking.

Survivors include her children, Charles (Nancy) Freeland, Sherrard, IL, Sharon (Stephen) White, Madison, SD, George (Carla) Freeland, Sparta, MI, Rose (David) Mohler, Fort Scott, KS; 2 children from her previous marriage, Brenda Hitch, Falmouth, KY, and Ben Maxedon, Zebulan, GA; 9 grandchildren; 13 great grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, George; 3 sisters; and 2 brothers.
