Veryl E. Blade, age 78, formerly of Cambridge, died Tuesday, December 7, 2010 at Hillcrest Nursing Home, Geneseo.
Funeral services will be 1:00 p.m. Monday, December 13, 2010 at Kirk, Huggins & Esterdahl Funeral Home, Ltd. 1301-4th Street, Orion. Visitation is Sunday from 4:00-6:00 p.m. at the funeral home. Burial is at Western Township Cemetery, Orion. Memorials may be made to Alzheimer's Association or St. Jude Children's Research Hospital.
Veryl was born February 12, 1932 in Geneseo, IL., to Luther and Bertha (Neuleib) Larson. She married the love of her life, Bert Blade, May 5, 1951 in Coal Valley. Bert preceded her in death on October 14, 1989.
Veryl had been retired and enjoyed spending time with her grandchildren and attending their activities before she became ill. They were a special part of her life. She had fun playing cards with her sisters and friends. Veryl also collected porcelain dolls. She was a member of the Methodist Church in Cambridge.
Survivors include her three sons, Michael of Cambridge, Jon and companion Tammy Johnson of Lynn Center, and Jim of Melrose Park, IL. Grandchildren, Elizabeth, Jacob (Allison) Blade, Ashley (Travis) Galle, Jessica Blade ( Brandon Johnston), Justin (Marissa) and Amanda Johnson. Great grandchildren, Mariah, Gianna, Camden, Austin & Ellie. Sisters, Vivian Butterfield of Orion, and Vernita Larson of Sherrard.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Bert, her parents, daughter-in-law Robyn and two brothers-in-law, Max Butterfield and Maynard Larson.
