Veryl Duane "Snow" Cole, 81 of Coal Valley died August 13, 2004 at Oak Glen Home, Coal Valley.
Funeral services will be 10 a.m. Monday, August 16, 2004 at Kirk, Huggins & Esterdahl Funeral Home, Ltd., Orion Visitation will be Sunday from 3-6 p.m. at funeral home. Burial will be at Western Township Cemetery, Orion with military rites conducted by the Orion VFW Post # 143. Memorials may be made to Oak Glen Home, Coal Valley.
Veryl was born August 6, 1923 in Weller Twp., Henry Co., IL to Duane and Vera Quayle Cole. He married Wilma F. Hull Plunkett September 20, 1957 in Moline. She preceded him in death on April 20, 2003.
Snow retired on September 1, 1990 as a district manager for the Illinois State Lottery. He also retired from the auction profession as an auto auctioneer with heavy equipment and lottery. Previously he worked for John Deere Industrial Equipment Sales, Moline in heavy equipment and had operated a junk yard in Orion in 1957.
Snow graduated in 1948 from Monmouth College. He was a WWII Army veteran. He was a member of the Orion United Methodist Church where he sang in the choir. He was a member of the Orion VFW where he served as chaplain and was an officer of the Orion Lions Club.
Snow enjoyed music and attended dances occasionally. He also played golf when time allowed. He loved his grandchildren and great grandchildren. He also loved to make people laugh.
