Vickie A. (Podlashes) Dodge, 68, of East Moline, IL, passed away at her home on Saturday, March 10, 2018.
Funeral Mass will be at 10 am, Wednesday, March 14, 2018 at St. Anne’s Catholic Church, 555-18th Avenue, East Moline, IL, with a luncheon to follow. Visitation will be held from 4-7 pm Tuesday, at Esterdahl Mortuary & Crematory, Ltd., 6601-38th Avenue, Moline. A Rosary will be recited at 7 pm following the visitation, at the funeral home. Burial will be at St. Mary’s Cemetery, East Moline. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the American Cancer Society.
Vickie was born on October 23, 1949, in Moline, IL, the daughter of Dorothy Horton and John Podlashes. She was a graduate of Alleman High School, class of 1967. She married Larry C. Dodge on June 9, 1984, at Sacred Heart Church, Rock Island. Vickie worked at the John Deere administration office building in the cafeteria, Moline, IL, for 20 years. After the birth of her second child, she and her husband decided she would stay home. They opened the Dodge Daycare Center, and she became affectionately known by the kids as “Grandma Wickie”. After running the daycare for 22 years, they closed the daycare. Vickie then worked for Friendship Manor, Rock Island, IL.
She was passionate about various craft hobbies including scrapbooking, knitting, and crocheting. She loved watching Alleman High School football and could often be heard cheering “Get ‘em!” from the stands.
Survivors include her husband, Larry C. Dodge, 71, of East Moline, IL; son, Michael (Valerie) Dodge, 31, of Port Byron, IL; daughter, Melissa (Terry Sloan) Dodge, 30, of Redmond, OR; step-daughter, Dee (Shawn) Wolfe (Dodge), 47, of Manchester, TN, and their daughter; step-son, Lawrence (Penny) Dodge, 46, of Smithville, TN, and their nine children and several grandchildren; sister-in-law, Carole Podlashes, of East Moline, IL, Barb Herbert (Podlashes), of Coal Valley, IL, Rosemary Wolf, of Cambridge, IL; and brother-in-law, David (Emily) Dodge, of Guthrie, OK.
She is preceded in death by her father, John Podlashes, mother, Dorothy Horton, brothers Rev. Jack Podlashes, Richard “Dick” Podlashes, and Bob Podlashes.
