Vickie Forslund Gingry, 64, of Davenport, IA, died Saturday, July 29, 2017, at home.
Private family services will be held and cremation rites will be accorded. Inurnment will be at Riverside Cemetery. Memorials may be made to the family. Esterdahl Mortuary & Crematory, Ltd., Moline, is assisting the family with arrangements.
Vickie was born on May 12, 1953, in Moline, IL, the daughter of Viven and Ida Kroeger Forslund. She had been with the love of her life, Victor Simpkins, since January of 1984 when they met in Bloomington, IL. She worked for Riverview Manor in Pleasant Valley, where taking care of the residents was more of a hobby than an occupation.
Vickie took great joy in supporting her daughter in her athletic and academic endeavors. She loved being a grandma and in her later years, she felt incredibly blessed to become an adoring grandma to her grandson, who brought her so much pride and happiness.
Survivors include her daughter, Jennifer Simpkins; son, Matthew Simpkins; grandchildren, ZackErya Simpkins, Mariah Simpkins, Matthew Simpkins, Chyanna Seebeck, Payton Engels, and Lexi Easley; great granddaughter, Alauhni Engels; great grandson, Zier Engels; sister, Cathe Otto; nieces and nephews, Amanda (Brian) Reffett, Anna (John) Hartman, Ian (Hannah) Forslund, and Carissa (Brad) Higley; and several great nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents; brothers, Jon Forslund, Robert Forslund, and a stillborn brother.
