Victor Louis Grothusen, age 78, of Sherrard, died Saturday, August 7, 2010 at his home.
Funeral services will be 6:00 p.m. Monday, August 9, 2010 at Esterdahl Mortuary & Crematory, Ltd. 6601-38th Avenue, Moline. Visitation is from 4:00-6:00 p.m. prior to the service at the funeral home. Graveside services are 11:00 a.m. Tuesday, August 10 at Greenview Memorial Gardens, East Moline with military honors conducted by Moline American Legion Post #246. Anyone wishing to go to the service should meet at the funeral home by 10:30 a.m. Memorials may be made to First Lutheran Church, Sherrard or the American Cancer Society.
Vic was born August 15, 1931 in Davenport, IA the son of Victor T. and Lillian (Schwenke) Grothusen. He married Yvonne McFarren on July 21, 1956 in McCracken, KS.
Vic was employed in the International Logistics Department at the Rock Island Arsenal for 32 years, retiring in December, 1989. He was a 1950 graduate of Moline High School. Vic was an Air Force veteran of the Korean War. He was a member of First Lutheran Church in Sherrard. Vic was also a member of Moline American Legion Post #246, Masonic Blue Lodge #310, and the Shriner's.
