Violet "Vi" Johnson, 75, of Moline, died April 22, 2009 with her family by her side after a long courageous battle with illness at Trinity Medical Center, Rock Island
Funeral services will be 11:00 a.m. Saturday, April 25, 2009 at Trinity Lutheran Church, Moline.
Visitation will be Friday from 3-7 p.m. at Esterdahl Mortuary & Crematory, Ltd., 6601-38th Ave., Moline. Burial will be in National Cemetery, Rock Island Arsenal at 9:30 a.m. on Monday, April 27, 2009 and those wishing to attend need to meet at Esterdahls at 9:00 a.m. Memorials may be made to Susan G. Koman Foundation, Juvenile Diabetes Research Foundation or Trinity Lutheran Church, Moline.
Vi was born October 7, 1933 in Yakima, WA to Adam and Doris E. (Morford) Albert. She married Charles E. Johnson on March 26, 1955 in Yakima, WA.
Vi was employed by the City of Moline for 20 years retiring on June 30, 1992 as Deputy Clerk for the Circuit Court.
Vi was a member of Trinity Lutheran Church where she belonged to WELCA and a bible study group. She was also a member of the Moline American Legion Ladies Auxiliary and the Geneseo Country Club. She enjoyed playing golf, traveling, socializing with family and friends and spending time with her grandchildren.
She is survived by her husband Charles; children Stephen (Connie) Johnson, Colorado Springs, CO, Karen Layman, East Moline, and Kurt (Lori) Johnson, Bettendorf; 11 grandchildren Anika (Josh), Kyle (Sara) and Ryan, William, Matt (Jennifer) and Zach, Kayli, Ryan, Jake, Hannah and Alec; 4 great grandchildren; Sisters ,Goldie Sapp, Linda Sandell; Brothers, Jim Albert, and Terry Albert.
She was preceded in death by her parents, a brother Adam Albert, Jr. and sister Dorothy Meadows.
