Violet J. Klingborg Meincke, 85, of East Moline, IL, died Monday, May 30, 2016, at Clarissa C. Cook Hospice House, Bettendorf, IA.
Funeral services will be held at 10:30 a.m. Friday, June 3, 2016, at Esterdahl Mortuary & Crematory, Ltd., 6601 38th Avenue, Moline, IL. Visitation will be from 4 to 7 p.m. Thursday, June 2, 2016, at the funeral home. Per her wishes, cremation rites will be accorded following the services. Memorials may be made to Clarissa C. Cook Hospice House.
Violet was born on April 23, 1931, in Cherokee County, IA, the daughter of David and Anna Carlson Klingborg. She married Jack F. Meincke. She worked in bookkeeping, which was her passion, for IL-Iowa Blacktop in Rock Island and later for the Viking Club in Moline, retiring in 1999.
Violet enjoyed working outside, watching golf and NASCAR on television, and reading.
Survivors include her children, Wendy (Merl) Abel and Kit (Ron) Whan; grandchildren, Korie (Tia) Vance, Ross (Cristal) Krizman, Mara Krizman, Kara (Steve) Coffey, Mitch Krizman, Kyle (Jessica) Krizman, Wil Krizman; 9 great grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her parents; brothers, Carl and Phil Klingborg; sisters, Helga Paulson, Mildred Pearson, Dora Warren, Donna Cherrington, Mae Hendricks, June Chuich, and Lil DeWulf.
