Violet M. Peterson

Violet “Vi” M. Peterson, 98, of Rock Island, IL, died Saturday, July 15, 2017, at Friendship Manor, Rock Island.

Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Wednesday, July 19, 2017, at Esterdahl Mortuary & Crematory Ltd., 6601-38 Ave, Moline.  Visitation will be from 10 a.m. until the time of service.  Burial will take place at Moline Memorial Park.  Memorials may be made to Friendship Manor or First Lutheran Church Moline, where she was a long time member.

Vi was born on November 15, 1918, in Chicago, IL, the daughter of Arthur and Rose Suchy Petrie.  She married Kenneth F. Peterson, December 10, 1938, at First Lutheran Church, Moline.  He preceded Vi in death on October 9, 1981.

Vi was a member of Mothers Circle Literary Guild, Sara Bennet, and later the Alice Kennedy of the Kings Daughters.  She was a member of the Rock Island Co. Historical Society, the Augustana Historical Society, and the Augustana Endowment. She also was a member of the former Moline Ladies Elks, Eastern Star, Moline Republican Women’s Club, and Clara Lodge #118 Independent Order of Vikings.

Survivors include her daughters and sons-in-law; Judy (Ron) Fellner, Lakeland, FL, Bonnie (Kent) Crippen, Milan, IL; sons and daughters-in-law; Tom (Judy) Peterson, Joy, IL, and Jim (Vicki) Peterson, Moline, IL; 14 grandchildren, 20 great grandchildren, and 1great great grandson.

She was preceded in death by her parents, spouse, and sister, Grayce Vickroy.
