Virginia H. Bottorff

Virginia H. Bottorff, of Moline, died Tuesday, March 15, 2011 at Illini Restorative Care Center, Silvis.
Memorial service will be at 10:00 A.M., Friday, March 18, 2011 at Christ United Methodist Church, 3801 7th Street, East Moline. Visitation will be held from 4:00 ~ 7:00 P.M., Thursday, March 17, 2011 at Esterdahl Mortuary & Crematory, Ltd., 6601 38th Avenue, Moline. Cremation rites have been accorded. Inurnment will be in Greenview Memorial Gardens following the funeral service. Memorials may be made to Christ United Methodist Church, East Moline or Silvis United Methodist Church.
Virginia was born on November 1, 1921 in rural Ollie, Iowa to Adna and Edna Patterson Hollingsworth. She married Robert H. Bottorff on June 25, 1939 in Lancaster, Missouri. He preceded her in death on March 24, 2001.
Virginia was a former resident of the Hedrick and Martinsburg area where she graduated from Martinsburg High School in 1938. She was a homemaker until age 50 when she attended Blackhawk College to be a certified Teachers Aide. She was employed in the Moline and East Moline public schools and the Villa Montessori School in Rock Island. She was active in the PTA at Wells School, East Moline and was a Brownie Girl Scout co-leader at Wells School. Virginia and her late husband stressed the importance of education for their children. Virginia was a member of Silvis United Methodist Church for many years and was very active in that church. In 1998 she transferred to Christ United Methodist Church where she is still a member. She was active in the Prayer Group there. She enjoyed bowling, reading, and traveling. She belonged to the Red Hat Society. She was most proud of her children, grandchildren, and great grandchildren and enjoyed being with them. She adored her great grandchildren and had a special relationship with her grandchildren.
