Virginia M. Bowman, 72, of Milan, IL, died Sunday, July 16, 2017, at home.
Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10 a.m. Saturday, July 22, 2017, at St. Pius X Catholic Church, 2502 29th Avenue, Rock Island, IL. Visitation will be from 4 to 7 p.m. with a Recitation of the Rosary at 3:30 p.m. Friday, July 21, 2017, at Esterdahl Mortuary & Crematory, Ltd., 6601 38th Avenue, Moline. Burial will be at Rock Island Memorial Park. Memorials may be made to St. Pius X Catholic Church or to the American Cancer Society.
Virginia was born on October 14, 1944, in Rock Island, IL, the daughter of Donald and Mae O’Leary Moseley. She married Larry W. Bowman on October 1, 1966, at St. Ambrose Catholic Church in Milan. She worked as a registered nurse for St. Anthony’s Hospital as well as the former Franciscan Hospital, which is now UnityPoint Health. In 2002, Virginia retired from John Deere Health Care.
Virginia was a member of St. Pius X Catholic Church, where she was active with the church women’s groups and head of REACH.
Survivors include her husband, Larry Bowman; children, Julie (Scott) Cunningham, Apex, NC, and Laura Beiter, Wildwood, MO; 5 grandchildren, Ryan Cunningham, Rachel Cunningham, Lauren Beiter, Jessica Beiter, and Braden Beiter; brother, Bob (Linda) Moseley, East Moline, IL; sisters, Donna (Jerry) Newberry, Milan, IL, and Rose Fox, Rock Island, IL; sister-in-law, Joanne Moseley, Rock Island, IL; several nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents and brother, Ronald.
