Virginia E. Tressel

August 4, 1923 — June 21, 2011

Virginia E. Tressel, 87 of Moline passed away June 21, 2011 at Heartland Health Care Center, Moline.
Funeral services will be 11:00 a.m., Friday, June 24th at First United Presbyterian Church, 801-16th Street, Moline. Burial will be in Riverside Cemetery, Moline. Visitation is from 4:00 to 7:00 p.m.on Thursday at Esterdahl Mortuary & Crematory, Ltd., 6601-38th Avenue, Moline. Additional visitation will also be held one hour prior to the funeral service at the church. Memorials may be made to her church, First United Presbyterian Church.
Virginia was born on August 4, 1923 in Moline the daughter of Elizabeth Gregg and Omer Tressel. She graduated from Moline High School and Augustana College. She worked at Royal Neighbors of America in Rock Island, IL for 30 years, retiring in 1986.
For many years, Virginia had an Encouragement Writing Ministry. She received great happiness by helping others.
She belonged to the Dorcas Circle at her church, was a past deaconess, and a member of the American Legion and Veterans of Foreign Wars Auxiliary. She was also a member of the Order of the Eastern Star Lodge #258 in Moline and the retirees group from Royal Neighbors of America.
Virginia was a long time member of the First United Presbyterian Church in Moline, IL. She dearly loved her home. Pink was her favorite color which was prevalent throughout her home and front porch, especially pink flowers and pink roses.
Virginia was very thankful for her friends in the Quad Cities and out of town who shared their families with her. She was "Aunt Virginia" to many friends. She was blessed with a caring church.
Survivors include her grand-nephew, Kevin Douglas Tressel, his sister Ashley, and his mother, Kyong-Cha.. She was also survived by Kevin's aunt and uncle, Gina and Bob Larkin and their children, Bobby, Jennifer and John, all of Valrico, Florida, and a special friend, Michael Roberts of Moline and his family who helped Virginia, for many years so she could enjoy her home in her senior years.
She was preceded in death by her parents, her brother and his wife, Douglas and Lillian Tressel, her brother and his wife, Omer and Maryon Tressel, nephews Timothy Tressel, and Mark Tressel, and many relatives and friends.
