Viril E. "Gene" Dulaney, age 83, of Moline, died Saturday, November 19, 2011 at Trinity, Rock Island.
Funeral services will be 11:30 a.m. on Tuesday, November 22, 2011 at Esterdahl Mortuary & Crematory, Ltd. 6601-38th Avenue, Moline. Burial is at National Cemetery, Rock Island Arsenal with military honors conducted by Moline American Legion Post #246. Memorials may be made to the American Heart Association.
Viril was born November 6, 1928 at Moline Public Hospital, the son of Thomas A.and Doris Boney Dulaney. He married Mary Ann Corbin on July 30, 1949 in Moline.
Viril was last employed as an end of line inspector and had been with John Deere Harvester in East Moline for 46 years. He served in the Naval Reserves, and then enlisted in the United States Marine Corps serving during the Korean War. Viril was a member of Moline American Legion Post #246. He was also a member of ARRL (Amateur Radio Relay League) and was a ham radio operator for over 40 years - K9FFC- was the call sign.
