W. Baldwin Day

June 2, 1919 — January 14, 2019

W. Baldwin Day, 99, of Rock Island, passed away Monday, January 14, 2019, at Silver Cross.

Cremation rites will be accorded, and memorial services will be 11 a.m., Tuesday, January 22, 2019, in the Chapel at Friendship Manor, Rock Island. Memorials may be made to Friendship Manor or Trinity Lutheran Church.

Baldwin was born on June 2, 1919, in Armour South Dakota, the son of Onie Smith and Bernice B. (Baldwin) Day.  He married Margaret Harrison in Ohio. She preceded him in death in 1980.  He later married Aileen A. (Anderson) Green on July 8, 1984, at Trinity Lutheran Church, Moline.  After his retirement he worked as a consultant for Unisys of Florida.

Baldwin was a member of Trinity Lutheran Church where he helped with the summer vacation bible school.  He was a co-founder of St. Andrews Presbyterian Church in Dunedin, FL.  He had a great singing voice and was active in choral groups.  He was involved in Kiwanis and Barber Shop quartet in both Florida and Moline.  Baldwin had a wonderful sense of humor and spent much of his time reading the newspaper over the radio to people on WVIK.

Survivors include his wife, Aileen; step children, Joseph W. Green, East Moline, and Sandra Vas, Marshalltown, IA; 2 step grandchildren; 3 great grandchildren; and 2 great great grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his parents, 2 daughters, a brother, and a step grandchild.
