Warren was born
on July 3, 1923 in
Moline, IL. to Elmer and Mary (Larson) Burdick. He was
a Moline High
School graduate and
went on to serve as a
Sergeant in the Army Air Force from
1943-1946 as a teletype mechanic in the
communications branch. While stationed
overseas, he met and fell in love at first
sight with Mary Boulos at a Red Cross
Dance in Cairo, Egypt. They wed on
May 10, 1947 at Calvary Lutheran
Church, Moline.
Mr. Burdick began as a self employed
Plasterer and Builder. He built both
homes that his family lived and grew up
in. He later became a Real Estate agent,
last working for Mel Foster Company
when he retired. Warren enjoyed hunting, gardening, harvesting fruit from his
own yard, playing scrabble, and spending time with his
family. His true passion was fishing and
he enjoyed this hobby on a regular basis
on his pontoon boat at Fyre Lake.
A devout Christian, Warren was a life
long member of Calvary Lutheran
Church, Moline. He served on the
Church Council, sang in the Choir and
even did the plastering at the church. His
faith in the Lord was a prominent force
in his life which spilled over to all his
family and friends. He was a deeply caring and generous family man and loyal
friend to many.
Warren is survived by his wife Mary, children, Sue
(LaVerne) Knipe, Steven Burdick
