Warren August "Pete"Darling, age 77, of Moline, died Tuesday, January 4, 2011 at Aspen Health & Rehab, Silvis.
Funeral services will be 12:00 p.m. Saturday, January 8, 2011 at Esterdahl Mortuary & Crematory, Ltd. 6601-38th Avenue, Moline. Visitation is from 4:00-7:00 p.m. Friday at the funeral home. Burial is at Greenview Memorial Gardens, East Moline with military honors conducted by Moline American Legion Post #246. Memorials may be made to his grandchildren's educational fund.
Pete was born February 26, 1933 in Geneseo, the son of Vern and Lenora Stotmeister Darling. He married Betty S. Shell on October 2, 1954 in Roanoke, VA. She preceded him in death on June 17, 1996.
In his younger years, Pete was employed as a farm hand. He later worked at Moline Vault Company as a vault maker. Pete last worked as a fleet mechanic at Kraft Foods in Milan. He was a navy veteran serving from 1951-1955. Pete enjoyed camping, fishing, being in the outdoors and traveling.

He was preceded in death by his parents, wife, brother, Vaughn Darling, an infant brother, and sister, Louise VanDeWiele.
