Warren G. Humphrey

Warren G. Humphrey, 90, of Moline formerly of Coal Valley, died August 17, 2011 at his residence.
A funeral service will be 11:00 a.m. on Saturday, August 20, 2011 at the Orion United Methodist Church, visitation will be on Friday from 4:00 to 7:00 p.m. with a Masonic Service at 6:30 p.m. at Kirk, Huggins & Esterdahl Funeral Home, Ltd. 1301 4 Street, Orion. Burial will be in Glennwood Cemetery. Memorials may be made to the church or Trinity Pathway Hospice.
Warren was born on February 24, 1921 in Aledo, Illinois to William and Ida Murphy Humphrey. He married Madge Elaine Williams on October 11, 1941 in Coal Valley; she preceded him in death on December 10, 1981. He later married Jo Ann Jones on June 6, 1983 in Coal Valley.
Through his working career Warren held various positions, first, for a winter, Warren was employed as a coal miner; he then went to work with John Deere Harvester as a grinder. Later he became a longtime farmer in the area. Warren then became a greens keeper and superintendent at a golf course on Lake Calhoun in LaFayette. Warren ended his career with John Deere Harvester beginning in security and retiring as a supervisor.
Warren enjoyed playing horseshoes, golfing, bowling and camping.

He was preceded in death by his parents, an infant son and infant daughter. He was also preceded in death by 4 brothers; Roy, Clarence, Glen & Wayne, 2 sisters; Helen and Gladys.
