Warren T. Strandlund, 93, of East Moline, passed away, Monday, December 26, 2022, at his home.
Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m., Wednesday, January 4, 2023, at Homewood Evangelical Free Church, Moline. Visitation will be from 4-7 p.m., Tuesday, January 3, 2023, at Esterdahl Mortuary & Crematory, Ltd., Moline. Cremation will follow services and inurnment will be at Moline Memorial Park at a later date. Memorials may be made to the church.
Warren was born on February 11, 1929, in Moline, the son of Alexander and Ina E. (Hellgren) Strandlund. He married Norma Lear on September 28, 1952, at First Baptist Church in Moline. He later married Evelyn (Witt) Allen on October 3, 1983, in St. Petersburg, Florida. She preceded him in death on August 14, 2002. He married Verna F. (Rhodes) Edwards on June 13, 2004, in Moline. Warren was previously employed as a letter carrier for the U.S. Post Office in Moline, retiring in 1987, after 31 years. He was a U.S. Veteran, having served in the Army Reserves for twelve years. Warren was a member of Homewood Evangelical Free Church where he served as head usher and Sunday school teacher. He was active in the Dad’s Club at McKinley Grade School and a season ticket holder for Moline basketball from 1947-2017. Warren enjoyed gardening and was an avid Chicago Cubs fan.
Survivors include his wife, Verna; children Mikel (Lynne) Strandlund, Moline, Pamela (John) Crowe, Bettendorf, Paula (Martin) Newell, Rock Island; brother, Rev. Donald (Mary) Strandlund, Cullman, Alabama; grandchildren, Justin (Beth) Strandlund, Grand Rapids, Michigan, Jenna Strandlund, Moline, Ian Newell, Rock Island, Emma (Levi) Murphy, Nevada, Iowa, Dr. John (Kelly) Crowe, Jr., Chesterfield, Missouri, Kim (Steve) Fossel, Evergreen, Colorado; great grandchildren, J.T. Crowe, Lizzy Crowe, Lauren Fossel, Jonathan Fossel, Ryan Fossel; Verna’s son, Kenneth Edwards, Coal Valley; and his children, Cody (Rachel) Edwards, Camdenton, Missouri, Samantha Edwards, Milan; the Allen children, Larry (Sharyn) Allen, West Palm Beach, Florida, and family, Donald (Elaine) Allen, Davenport, and family, Rev. Ronald (Karen) Allen, Arkansas, and family, Bill (Carol) Allen, Moline, and family, James (Debbie) Allen, Geneseo, and family.
He was preceded in death by his parents; wife, Evelyn; stepdaughter, Roberta Edwards; sisters, Dorothy Hunt, Betty Lindberg; brother, Robert Strandlund.
