Wathena M. Brockett, 86, of Rock Island, went to be with the Lord, Friday, December 8, 2017, at Heartland Healthcare Center, Moline, IL.
Funeral services will be held at 10:30 a.m., Tuesday, December 12, 2017 at Edgewood Baptist, 2704 38th St, Rock Island. Visitation will be from 4:00 to 7:00 p.m. on Monday, December 11, 2017 at Esterdahl Mortuary & Crematory, 6601 38th Ave, Moline. Burial will be at Rock Island Memorial Park. Memorials may be made to Edgewood Baptist Church.
Wathena was born on January 9, 1931 in Oakland, Missouri, the daughter of Reuel Broyles and Desolee Starnes. She married Blanford “Harvey” Brockett August 2, 1947 in Springfield, Missouri. He preceded her in death on August 14, 2007. She was a clerk at the National Tea Grocery Store and retired in 1976 after working there for 13 years. After retirement, she went to work at Deb’s Bridal Shop and was an active member at Edgewood Baptist Church.
Survivors include daughter, Julie (Reverend Mike) Evans; son, Gale Brockett; grandchildren, Christopher (Tess) Williams, Bridget (Greg Ries) Evans, Priscilla (Josh) Mozley, Josiah (Jandrea) Evans, Jordan (Sara) Evans; great grandchildren, Nathan, Haydan, Brynn, Brylee, Hunter, Jordan, Elyssa, Keirsten, Gavin, Hannah, Beckham.
Wathena was preceded in death by her husband, daughter, Sonya Williams, and great grandchild, Sonya Kate Williams.
