Wayne Harlan Carey, 84, of Moline, died on Friday, November 14, 2014 at his residence.
A funeral service will be 11:00 a.m. on Friday, November 21, 2014 at Esterdahl Mortuary & Crematory, Ltd. 6601 38 Avenue, Moline. Visitation will be from 10:00 until service time at the funeral home. Burial will be at National Cemetery on the Rock Island Arsenal. Memorials may be made to the Quad City Animal Welfare Center, Milan.
Wayne was born on April 5, 1930 in Nora Springs, Iowa the son of Walter and Effie Bakken Carey. He married Marvella J. Safe on March 20, 1954 in Moline.
Wayne was an United States Army Veteran having served in the infantry during the Korean War. He started his 26 year career with the Moline Police Department as a patrolman retiring as the Captain of Detectives in 1980. Wayne was a member of the Policeman Benevolent Association and was a Chicago Bears and Cubs fan.
Wayne is survived by his wife of 60 years.
