Wayne R. Heeren, 83, of Coal Valley, died March 13, 2008 at Genesis Medical Center, East Campus, Davenport, IA.
Funeral services will be 10 a.m. Monday, March17, 2008 at Kirk, Huggins and Esterdahl Funeral Home, Ltd. Visitation will be Sunday from 2-5 p.m. at the funeral home. Burial will be at Oakwood Cemetery, Geneseo. Memorials may be made to Orion Veteran Memorial or Orion United Methodist Church.
Wayne was born January 10, 1925 in Hanna Twp. IL to Raymond and Mildred (Kershaw) Heeren. He married Margery Schweninger on February 1, 1949 in Geneseo.
Wayne was a retired farmer. He was a WWII Navy veteran serving on the U.S.S. Copahee and LST 1086 in the Pacific. He was a member of Orion United Methodist Church. He belonged to the Orion and the Western Sportsman's Clubs and the LST Association. He enjoyed fishing and competitive roller skating.
