Wilbert Hulett

June 11, 1934 — November 25, 2018

Wilbert Hulett, 84, of Moline, went home to be with his Lord, at home surrounded by his loving family on Sunday, November 25, 2018.

Funeral services will be held at 10 a.m., Wednesday, November 28, 2018, at MGT-New Hope Church, 2305 7th Avenue, Moline.  Visitation will be from 4-7 p.m., Tuesday, at Esterdahl Mortuary & Crematory, Ltd., Moline.  Burial will be at the National Cemetery, Rock Island Arsenal.  In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to MGT-New Hope, Cornerstone Christian fellowship, or St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital.

Wilbert was born on June 11, 1934 in Rock Island, the son of Frank and Velma (Stambaugh) Hulett.  He married Judy Weston of Ottumwa, IA, on September 15, 1961, at Moline Gospel Temple.

Wilbert was always a faithful servant of God.  He was one year old when his parents started attending Moline Gospel Temple.  He served as a board member, Sunday school superintendent of the 9th grade department, vacation bible school bus driver, deacon and was always willing to help in any capacity. Wil was in the Naval Reserves, as a gunner’s mate on the USS Hornet for four years.

He was an electrical supervisor at John Deere Harvester for 25 years, retiring in 1986.  He worked for 25 more years in guest services doing out of town shows and working the John Deere Classic.

Wil was an avid cyclist.  Up until his stroke in March, he would ride with his biking buddy, Joe Hernandez.  He also enjoyed golfing with his golfing buddies Arvin Hout, Gordon Schwabe, son-in-law, Jeff Perkins, and anyone else that happened to be there, as Wil never met a stranger.  Wil valued his beautiful family.  He was a Godly husband, father and grandfather.

Those left to cherish his memory are, Judy, his wife of 57 years, daughter Lori (Jeff) Perkins, son Steve (Trish) Hulett; grandchildren, Lindsey, Conner, Jaden, Hunter, Joshua, Keaira and Traven; sisters, Barbara Forsberg, and Patricia (Gordon) Schwabe.

He was preceded in death by his parents, brother, Frank, Jr., sister-in-law, Gwen, and a brother-in -law, Les Forsberg.

The family wishes to express their appreciation to Bill Bealer for being an angel on earth.

Wil, Dad, Grandpa, you have fought a good fight, always faithful, running the race and now you’re experiencing your Heavenly reward.  We will surely miss you greatly!
