Willard Grant Johnson, 79, Geneseo, Ill. died Thursday, June 21, 2012 at Trinity, Rock Island.
Friends and family are invited to the visitation and funeral service, both being held at Osco Community Church in Osco. Visitation will be 4 to 8 p.m. Monday. The funeral service will be at 1 p.m. Tuesday. Burial will be in Glennwood Cemetery, Colona Township, followed by a luncheon at the church. Kirk, Huggins and Esterdahl Funeral Home, Ltd., Orion, is assisting the family. Memorials may be given to Osco Community Church or Wounded Warrior Project.
Willard was born Nov. 1, 1932, to Albert T. and Bertha McMeekin Johnson. He graduated from Orion High School and served 2 years in the U.S. Army, stationed in Ft. Leonard Wood, Missouri and Korea. Willard married Karen Benson on Dec. 5, 1959. The Johnsons farmed near Orion for many years until they moved to Geneseo.
Survivors include his sons: Steven (Darren Cathcart), Kaneohe, Hawaii; Scott, Chiangmai, Thailand; and Douglas (Jennifer), Glenwood Springs, Colo.; three grandchildren; two step grandchildren; one step great-grandchild; a brother, Keith (Lois), Coal Valley; and seven nieces and nephews. His parents, a brother Leo, and his wife, Karen, preceded him in death.
