William "Uncle Bill" Richard Archer, 88, of Moline, died Monday, March 28, 2005, in Moline.
Funeral Services will be 11 a.m. Thursday, March 31, 2005, at Esterdahl Mortuary, Ltd., 6601-38th Ave., Moline. Visitation will be one hour prior to service time. Burial will be at Greenview Memorial Gardens, East Moline. Military honors will be conducted by the American Legion Post #246.
Bill was born August 10, 1916 in Mystik, Iowa, the son of Richard and Mary Murrey Archer. He married Marcie Forgie on November 10, 1954 in Moline. She preceded him in death in 1996.
Bill was a tool grinder at the Rock Island Arsenal, retiring in 1973 after 24 years.
Bill entered the Army Air Force in 1941, serving during WWII, where he was involved in the African Campaign. He was discharged from service in 1949. He enjoyed listening to baseball on the radio, but was an avid Chicago Cubs fan. Everyone loved Uncle Bill. Je was everyone's favorite uncle.
Survivors include Brother in law and sister in law Wayne and Bev Forgie, Moline, Irvin and DeLores Hill, Davenport; Nephew and niece who were Bill's primary caregivers Dan and Angel Forgie, with whom Bill resided; very special friend Brenda Garrett; Nephews and Nieces Wayne and Jan Forgie, Ron and Cindy Forgie, Steve and Laurie Forgie, Mike and Cheryl Forgie, Bruce and Carol Archer, Norman and Dorine Archer, Dale and Carol Archer, and Richard and Della Archer; friends Laura Herman and Deb Smith; several great nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents and brothers John and Tom.
