William "Bill" L. Emery Sr.

William “Bill” L. Emery Sr., 89, of Andalusia, passed away September 18, 2024, at Avonlea Cottage, Milan.

Private family graveside services will be held at the Edgington Cemetery. Memorials may be made to a charity of your choice. Esterdahl Mortuary & Crematory, Ltd., Moline, is assisting the family. 

Bill was born on August 6, 1935, in Galesburg, IL, the son of James and Florence Emery. He married Nancy J. Olson on August 12, 1956, in Galesburg, IL. She preceded him in death on December 21, 2017. He retired from American Greetings, a card company that he worked for in sales. After retirement, he went on to work part-time for American Bank & Trust. He and his wife previously worked during the summer months at Yellowstone National Park. Bill loved to travel and was a supporter of all Rockridge Rockets sports. He was the best dad to Pam (John) Fuhr and Jim (Amy) Emery. He enjoyed spending time with his grandchildren, Kayla (Dillon) Fuhr, Jake (Amanda) Fuhr, Charlotte (Troy) Hartman and Nick (Abby) Emery. He loved his visits from his great grandchildren, Jackson, Sophia & Lincoln Fuhr, Easton, Archer & Beckham Weckerly, Emery Hartman, Ella Emery, and they sure loved their Old Papa. 

Survivors include his children, Jim, Dave, Bill & Pam; several grandchildren and great grandchildren; siblings, Don (Connie) Emery, Joyce (Ron) Webber, Mary Martin; and the best dog he could ask for, “Buddy”. 

He was preceded in death by his parents, James and Florence; wife, Nancy; brothers, John “Bob” and Richard “Dick” Emery.

The family would like to thank Avonlea Cottage for the great care over the last couple of months, Heartland Hospice, especially Nicole for the special bond you had with our dad. We appreciate everything.
