William “Bill” Leo Paxton, Sr., 78, of Silvis, passed away Thursday January 9, 2025, at MercyOne Genesis Medical Center, Silvis.
Funeral services will be 1 p.m. Thursday January 16, 2025, at Esterdahl Mortuary & Crematory, Ltd., Moline. Visitation will be from 4-7 p.m. Wednesday January 15, 2025, at the funeral home. Burial will be at the Rock Island National Cemetery, where military honors will be conducted. Memorials may be made to the Patriot Guard Riders.
Bill was born on March 23, 1946, in Ottumwa, Iowa, the son of Everett Leo and Lois Irene (Crane) Paxton. He was a U.S. Veteran, having served in the Army. He married Teresa Osborn on June 10, 1977, in Moline. Bill had worked at Alcoa and later retired from Yellow Trucking in Chicago. He was a member of the Teamsters Local 710, the Patriot Guard Riders and the Sauk Trail H.O.G. Chapter of Kewanee. He was also a member of the Blackhawk Chapter of Abate of Illinois as well as the Crossroads Biker Church; he loved riding his motorcycle, scrapping metal, woodworking and fishing with his grandkids. Bill never met a stranger was very sociable and could talk to anyone; above all he loved to visit with family and friends.
Survivors include his wife, Teresa; children, Bill (Tracie) Paxton, Jr., Nathen (Jennifer) Paxton, Rebecca (Chuck) Ellis; 12 grandchildren; 8 great-grandchildren; and brother, Donald (Jeannie) Paxton.
He was preceded in death by his parents and son, Christopher Paxton.
