William E. Byles, 51, of Rock Island, passed away Saturday, Oct. 6, 2007 at Clarissa C. Cook Hospice, Bettendorf, after a courageous battle with cancer.
Funeral services will be 1 p.m. Tuesday, Oct. 9 at Esterdahl Mortuary and Crematory, Ltd. 6601-38th Ave., Moline. Visitation will be Monday from 4-8 p.m. at the funeral home. Burial will be in Greenview Memorial Gardens, East Moline. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the family for a fund to be established for his daughter Kaysie's education.
Bill was born Oct. 22, 1955 in Rock Island, the son of William L. and Doris Moore Byles. He married Kathleen Tracy March 2, 1996 in Milan.
Bill was employed as a maintenance director at the Fort Armstrong Senior Residence in Rock Island, after retiring as an officer and detective with East Moline Police Department.
Bill attended St. Matthew Lutheran Church, Milan and enjoyed fishing, golfing, camping, and hunting.
Survivors include his wife Kathleen; three daughters, Miranda, Michelle and Kaysie Byles; one grandson, Christian Durham; his father William L. Byles, and his wife Doris J.; his sister and her husband, Kim and Ken Nelson; two nephews, Michael and Daniel Nelson; aunt, Sharon Snyder; mother-in-law, Mary Ann Barnett; nieces, nephews and cousins; and a special friend Helen Sabbe. He was preceded in death by his mother Doris M. Byles on Dec. 27, 1985.
