William "Bill" Henry Edmonds, 66, of Moline, died Saturday, March 3, 2012 at the VA Medical Center in Iowa City, IA.
Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10 a.m. Thursday, March 8, 2012 at St. Mary's Catholic Church, 417 11th Street, Moline. Visitation will be from 4 to 7 p.m. Wednesday, March 7, 2012 at Esterdahl Mortuary & Crematory, Ltd., 6601 38th Avenue, Moline, with a Rosary at 3:30 p.m.. Burial will be at National Cemetery at Rock Island Arsenal. Military Honors will be provided by Moline American Legion Post #246. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to St. Mary's Catholic Church where he was a member or to his family.
Bill was born on February 1, 1946 in Rock Island, IL the son of Emerson Jerome and Ethel (Schumacher) Edmonds. He was a 1965 graduate of Alleman High School. He married Julie Ann Johnson on June 4, 1966 in Moline, IL at St. Mary's Catholic Church. He served in the United States Navy from 1965-1969. He was assigned to the USS Arcadia (AD23) and the USS Yosemite (AD19). He was employed by National Tea Company, Harshbarger Super Value and Geifman Food Stores. Later he worked as a salesman for Jaydon, Inc. Bill very much enjoyed playing sports with his sons and taking fishing trips. Bill loved being with his family and friends and especially spending time with his grandkids in Minnesota and Florida.
