William C. "Bill" Henderson, 72, of Hampton, died October 31, 2007 at his home.
It was Mr. Henderson's wishes to be cremated. A memorial service will be held at a later date. Memorials may be made to the Q.C.A.W.C. (Quad City Animal Welfare Center). Esterdahl Mortuary & Crematory, Ltd. is assisting the family.
Bill was born in Moline, IL March 8, 1935, son of Clyde R. and Gertrude Benck Henderson. He graduated from Moline High School in 1952 and then attended Moline Community College.
From 1953 until the time of its closing, in 1982, he was employed at Moline Tool Co. He then worked briefly as an Industrial Specialist for the Rock Island Arsenal. In 1983, he joined Swan Engineering and Machine Co. and was employed there until time of retirement in 1999.
Bill served 8 years in the United States Naval Reserve. He was a past member of the Society of Manufacturing Engineers. Bill was a charter member of the Planning Commission for the Village of Hampton. He also participated with the Hampton Police Department in feasibility studies regarding Hamptons possible expanded police coverage for other nearby localities. He was also a member of the Moline Viking Club and enjoyed playing golf and was a charter member of Golf More Golf Club. He also enjoyed fishing.
He married Joyce Ann (Meirhaeghe) Heald in 1970.
