William H Lake

William Howard Lake, 83, of Colona, IL, died Sunday, December 29, 2013, at his home.

Funeral services will be will be at 10 a.m. Friday, January 3, 2014, at Esterdahl Mortuary & Crematory, Ltd., 6601 38th Avenue, Moline. Visitation will be held from 4 to 7 p.m. Thursday, January 2, 2014, at the funeral home. Burial will be at National Cemetery at Rock Island Arsenal where military honors will be conducted by Moline American Legion Post #246. Memorials may be made to the Colona Fire Dept.

Bill was born on June 28, 1930, in Red Oak, IA, the son of Walter Irwin and Edla M. (Caldwell) Lake. He married Faye Carol Gilmore on November 20, 1950, in Beatrice, NE, and she preceded him in death on November 4, 2007. They were married for 57 years.

Bill served in the United States Marine Corps. He was an electrician and member of IBEW Local 145 from 1965 - 1992. Bill was a handy individual and an excellent antique pocket watch collector and repairman. He was an avid gardener and enjoyed computers and new technology. Bill had been retired for over 20 years and very much enjoyed his work buddies' company. Above all, Bill enjoyed the time he spent with his family, especially his grandchildren and great grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his parents and his wife.
