William F. Shaner

William F. Shaner, 88, of McCook, NE, died Friday, February 23, 2018, at Bryan Medical Center East Campus, Lincoln, NE.

Funeral services will be held at 10 a.m., Saturday, March 3, 2018, at Esterdahl Mortuary & Crematory, Ltd., 6601 38 th Ave., Moline, IL. Visitation will be at 9 a.m., prior to the service, at the funeral home. Burial will be at Greenview Memorial Gardens, East Moline, IL. Memorials may be made to The American Heart Association.

William was born on March 28, 1929, in Macomb, IL, the son of Ralph Francis and Glenola Fern Anderson Shaner. He married Katherine Soterion on June 26, 1949, in Silvis, IL. She preceded him in death in December of 2014. William served in the United States Army Reserve. He worked as an Experimental Technician at Deere & Company for 29 years, retiring in 1987. William was a member of First Baptist Church in Silvis, IL. Bill and Kate lived most of their lives in East Moline, IL, with Bill moving closer to his son and daughter-in-law in Nebraska in February of 2017.

Survivors include his son, Steve (Susan) Shaner, McCook, NE; daughter, Linda Arnold, Coal Valley, IL; grandchildren, Seth (Aubrey) Shaner, CA, Simon (Julie) Shaner, UT, Sariah (Adam) Fisher, NV; and 12 great grandchildren.

Bill enjoyed working on automobiles, building model airplanes, and bowling on a team with his wife, Kate.

He was preceded in death by one great granddaughter, Madison Alice Shaner, his wife, Katherine, and his parents.
