William "Bill" R. Short, 80, of Colona, died December 6, 2006 at his home.
Cremation rites have been accorded. There will be a memorial service 2:30 p.m. Saturday, December 9, 2006 at Esterdahl Mortuary & Crematory, Ltd. 6601-38th Ave., Moline. Memorials may be made to American Cancer Society, Pathway Hospice, or Green Rock Senior Center.
Bill was born May 10, 1926 in Webster City, IA to William Herman and Annis (Whitaker) Short. He married Sara J. Shull on June 14, 1947 in East Moline.
Bill was a machinist for 28 years at Farmall, Rock Island retiring in the late 80's.
He was a WWII Navy Sea Bee.
Bill was member of Trinity Lutheran Church, Moline. He was a member VFW Don Cherry Geneseo Post 5083, UAW Local 1309, Rock Island, board member of Green Rock Senior Center where he also enjoyed doing puzzles, and was a scout master for Troop 164 for 11 years at Calvary Lutheran Church, Moline. He enjoyed fishing and spending time with his family.
