William "Bill" Beals

William “Bill” Beals, 56, of Hampton, IL, died Wednesday, May 3, 2017, at University of Iowa Hospitals & Clinics, Iowa City, IA.

Funeral services will be held at 3 p.m. Tuesday, May 9, 2017, at Esterdahl Mortuary & Crematory, Ltd., 6601 38th Avenue, Moline.  Visitation will be from 4 to 7 p.m. Monday, May 8, 2017, at the funeral home.  Cremation rites will be accorded following the services.  Memorials may be made to the family.

Bill was born on April 5, 1961, in Davenport, IA, the son of Marshall E. and Roberta “Bobbie” Reinhold Beals.  He married Cheryl A. Carlson on June 20, 1981, in Moline, IL.  He worked as an auditor for the State of Illinois Department of Transportation.

Bill was an avid Chicago Bears fan and loved boating.  He enjoyed learning about history and watching Star Trek.  He was the former president of the Hampton Historical Society.  In his younger years, Bill was a scout leader and coached softball and hockey for his children.

Survivors include his loving wife, Cheryl Beals; son, Mark (Gemma) Beals, Hampton, IL; daughter, Nikki Beals, Moline, IL; grandchildren, Ariana and Talia; mother, Roberta Beals; brothers, Daniel (Cathy) Beals, Colorado Springs, CO; James M. Beals, Moline, IL; nephew, Daniel Beals, Colorado Springs, CO; several step nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his father and niece, Dana Whiting.
