William "Bill" David McDonald

William (Bill) David McDonald, 64, of Orion, IL, passed away September 22, 2017 at his rural Orion home with his family by his side following a long battle with cancer.

Funeral services will be held at 10 am, Tuesday, September 26, 2017 at Kirk, Huggins & Esterdahl Funeral Home. Ltd., 1301 4th Street, Orion IL.  Visitation will be from 6-8 pm, Monday, September 25, 2017 at the Funeral home.  Burial will be at Western Township Cemetery.  In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to LDS.org (humanitarian aid) The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints.

Bill was born July 11th, 1953, in Yerington, NV to David and Maxine Dawson McDonald.  He received a degree in Chemical Engineering from University of Nevada at Reno.  He married Kathleen Lawrence for time and all Eternity, April 29th, 1976, in the Oakland, California Temple of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints.

Bill was incredibly loving, nurturing, a humble father, brother, grandfather, son, and friend.  His kind spirit bore witness to his strong testimony of His Savior, Jesus Christ.  He loved his family and friends dearly and expressed that through his works here on earth.  He enjoyed the outdoors, especially hunting, and was active in the Boy Scouts of America organization. Whenever the opportunity presented itself, Bill could be found in the company of others either at game nights, bonfires, or church socials.  He had the ability to bring people happiness with his sense of humor and constant love for others.

He is preceded in death by his son, Chad D. McDonald; sister, Jenise McDonald; father, David F. McDonald; and mother, Maxine Dawson.

Survivors include his wife, Kathleen L. McDonald ,of Orion; His sons, Ryan (Abbi) McDonald, Prosser, WA, Travis (Maura) McDonald, Savoy, IL;  His daughters,  Megan McDonald, Alpha, IL,  Emily  (Aaron) Harris of Kalispell, MT,  and April (Brian) Jensen of Pound, WI. His grandchildren:  Jett, Leia, Irelyn, and Lincoln McDonald, Kassidy, Jacquelyn, Amelia, and Liam Dennis, Kiley and Tristan Harris, Kiersten and Aliza Jensen, and Sophie Gordon; His stepmother Mary McDonald of Reno, NV; stepsisters: Sharla (Mark) Satterfield, CA and Julie (Ray) Forbes Reno, NV; stepbrother Jay Marriage, Gardnerville, NV.
