Darlene B. Powell, 96, of Colona, IL, died Thursday, October 19, 2017, at home.
Funeral services will be held at 11:30 a.m. Wednesday, October 25, 2017, at Riverside United Methodist Church, 712 16th Street, Moline, IL. Visitation will be from 5 to 7 p.m. Tuesday, October 24, 2017, at Esterdahl Mortuary & Crematory, Ltd., 6601 38th Avenue, Moline. A private family graveside service will be held at the National Cemetery at the Rock Island Arsenal. Memorials may be made to Riverside United Methodist Church or UnityPoint-Trinity Hospice.
Darlene was born on March 14, 1921, in Low Moor, IA, the daughter of Clifford and Josephine Wiley Rice. She married Gordon Adrian Powell on November 12, 1942, in Kahoka, MO, and he preceded her in death on May 21, 1993. She worked for 18 years as the bookkeeper for Sexton Ford, retiring in 1982.
Darlene was a member of Riverside United Methodist Church in Moline. She loved to spend time with her family and her wonderful group of dedicated friends.
Survivors include her daughters, Sherri Clark, Colona, IL, and Adrianne (James) Braet, Silvis, IL; son, Danny (Charlotte) Powell, Geneseo, IL; son-in-law, Jeff Culp, Marbury, AL; 10 grandchildren; 24 great grandchildren; 7 great great grandchildren.
Darlene was preceded in death by her parents; husband; daughter, Debrah Culp; son-in-law, John Clark; and sister, Dorothy Welk.
