Irene Elizabeth Howell, 98, of Moline, IL, went home to be with her Lord on Thursday, June 22, 2017, at Illini Restorative Care, Silvis, IL.
Funeral services will be held at 1 p.m. with a visitation one hour prior to the service on Tuesday, June 27, 2017, at First Covenant Church, 3303 41st Street, Moline. Burial will be at Moline Memorial Park. Memorials may be made to First Covenant Church Memorial Fund or Christian Friendliness.
Irene was born on January 31, 1919, in Moline, IL, the daughter of Andrew and Josephine Johnson Erickson. She married Paul Clifford Carlson in 1941 and Donald Howell in 1975. For 20 years, she worked in the office for Deere & Company’s Plow Works and Plow Planter. She retired from the Parts Distribution Center in Milan.
Irene was an active member of her church, working as a Sunday school teacher, singing in the choir, and active in the Women’s Organization. She was the past president of the Christian Friendliness Auxiliary.
Survivors include her daughter, Maren Wetherald, Boca Raton, FL; step daughter, Linda (David) Nelson, Granger, IN; many grandchildren, great grandchildren, great great grandchildren, nieces, and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents; husbands, Paul Clifford Carlson and Donald Howell; children, Tom and Karna Carlson; step daughter, Mardee Trapkus; 7 siblings and their spouses;
