Kenneth "Kenny" LaVerne Carlson, Sr.

Kenneth “Kenny” LaVerne Carlson, Sr, 84, of Orion, passed away on Thursday, August 3, 2017.

Private family services will be held.  Burial will be in Western Township Cemetery.  Kirk, Huggins and Esterdahl Funeral Home, Ltd. is assisting the family with arrangements.

Kenny was born on April, 23 1933 in Taylor Ridge, the son of Charles and Clara Briggs Carlson. He married Jeanette Ella Schnowske, the love of his life and soul mate on June 12, 1955 in Orion. He was employed with Montgomery Elevator doing Bench Assembly for 26 years and later at X-PAC as a Maintenance Assembler for 16 years. Kenny was a member of St. Paul Lutheran Church. He collected red trucks and cars and enjoyed watching The Chicago Bulls and WWF.  Kenny loved to spend time in his tool shed tinkering.  He enjoyed spending time with his family and was especially proud of his three sons.

He is survived by his loving wife of 62 years, Jeanette and his sons, Kenneth “Fred” (Chick Johnson) Carlson, Jr., Sheffield, IL,  Chuck Carlson, Orion, Vern (Deb) Carlson, Annawan, IL; sisters, Dorothy (Walt) Hardy, St. Augustine, FL, Sharon and the late Kenneth Schnowske , Orion; grandchildren, Dawn  Carlson (Jim Coyne), Coal Valley, Mariah (Josh) Morse, Orion, Chance (Nicole) Carlson, Lynn Center, IL, Tanner (Nichole) Carlson, Cedar Rapids, Iowa, Travis Carlson, Orion, Trevor Carlson, Orion; and great grandchildren, Dane Dolph, James, Caden, and Samantha Morse, and Brock and Remington Carlson and many other very special extended family.

He was preceded in death by his parents and brother Bob Carlson.
