Steven L. Douglas, 66, of Geneseo, IL, died Wednesday, August 16, 2017, at Clarissa C. Cook Hospice House, Bettendorf, IA.
Funeral services will be held at 10 a.m. Monday, August 21, 2017, at Kirk, Huggins & Esterdahl Funeral Home, Ltd., 1301 4th Street, Orion. Visitation will be from 4 to 6 p.m. Sunday, August 20, 2017, at the funeral home. Burial will be at Glennwood Cemetery with military honors conducted by the Orion American Legion Post 255 and the Orion VFW Post 143. Memorials may be made to Clarissa C. Cook Hospice House or to the American Cancer Society.
Steven was born on December 9, 1950, in Geneseo, IL, the son of Loren and Shirley Wells Douglas. He married Laura Hancock on September 14, 1974, in Orion, IL. As a youngster, he delivered newspapers. He enjoyed woodworking projects and could fix anything. He attended school for auto body repair and then mechanics. He went on to work as a Certified Auto Mechanic at Ford dealers. Later, he worked in small engine repair at Teske Pet & Garden in Moline.
Steven was a veteran, having been drafted in the United States Army during the Vietnam War. In his younger years, he enjoyed fishing, camping, mushroom hunting, gardening, and riding his bicycle and motorcycle.
He enjoyed watching NASCAR (Go Matt) and the Denver Broncos and listening to classic/hard rock music.
Survivors include his wife, Laura Douglas; children, Eric Douglas, Davenport, IA, and Trisha Douglas, Moline, IL; sister, Sidney Douglas, Moline, IL; sister-in-law, Lisa (Tony) Stiles, Orion, IL; several cousins, nieces, and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents.
