Esterdahl Mortuary and Crematory Staff


Chip graduated from Moline High School and Mid-American College of Mortuary Science. Chip and his wife Lora, have two children. He is a member of Moline Rotary and the Orion Lions Club. He is a licensed funeral director and embalmer as well as a certified crematory operator. In April of 2011 Chip became an owner and partner of the funeral home.


Bart graduated from Moline High School in 1999 and later attended Illinois Wesleyan University in Bloomington, Illinois. He graduated from Carl Sandburg College of Mortuary Science in 2003. Currently, he is a member St. Teresa of Calcutta Parish in Milan. Bart has been married to his wife, Jamie, since 2004 and their children; Ben, Caroline, and Cooper reside in Milan. He is a licensed funeral director and embalmer as well as a certified crematory operator. In April of 2011, Bart became a co-owner and partner.


Mary Ann is a 1965 graduate of Alleman High School and worked at Blackhawk College before becoming a stay-at-home mother for 23 years. Upon the death of her husband, Phil, in 1998, she became owner of the funeral home until 2011. She still assists with visitations and funerals. Mary Ann is the mother of three children and grandmother of 5. She is a member of St. Mary’s Catholic Church, Moline, where she remains quite active; she also sits on the Salvation Army Board.


Sandy is an Edgington native, having graduated from Rockridge High School and attended Blackhawk College. She is a graduate of Worsham College of Mortuary Science in Skokie, IL. Sandy is a member of Christ the King Catholic Church in Moline. She has been an associate of the funeral
home since 1979, and is a licensed funeral director and embalmer.


Jamie is a 2001 graduate of Rockridge High School and is a 2003 graduate of Carl Sandburg College of Mortuary Science. She and her husband, Bart, are members of St. Teresa of Calcutta Parish - Milan, and have three children Ben, Caroline, and Cooper. along with their dog, Berry. Jamie is a licensed funeral director and embalmer.


Luke graduated from Alleman High School in 1992. He is also a graduate of Worsham College of Mortuary Science. Luke started as an associate of Esterdahl Mortuary in 1996 before relocating to another area. He resumed his position with the firm after returning to the community in 2008. Luke is married to Stacy Appleman-Steen and is a licensed funeral director and embalmer.


Judi, a Rock Island native, is a 1968 graduate of Alleman High School and a 1972 graduate of Edgewood College in Madison, Wisconsin. She joined the staff at Esterdahl in 2002 as a secretary and member of the support staff. Prior to her position at Esterdahl, Judi was an associate of D.G. Horan in Davenport. She is an avid Duke fan and is the proud aunt of her
two nieces and two nephews and their children.


Larry is a lifelong resident of Orion. He is a 1964 graduate of Orion High School. Prior to joining the staff at Esterdahl Mortuary in 1999, he was an Associate Accountant at Deere and Co. Larry served in the U.S Army for three years (1966-69). He retired from his position as the Fire Chief of the Orion Volunteer Fire Department in July of 2019 after 50 years of service. He is the president of the Orion Sportsmen’s Club and the Orion Lions Club. Larry has one son, three grandchildren, and one great-grandchild.


Ron graduated from Moline High School in 1961 and received his bachelor's degree from Western Illinois University and a Master’s Degree from the University of Illinois. Ron and his wife, Linda were married in 1968 they have three children and seven grandchildren. Ron started teaching school in Alton, Illinois in 1965 and moved to Moline High School teaching from 1966 until 1999, retiring as Co-Op Coordinator. During that time he taught part-time at Black Hawk College and Scott Community College and worked with International Harvester and other local companies. Ron is very involved with many civic and fraternal organizations including; Moline Second Alarmers, Quad Cities Chamber of Commerce, SCORE, church council member, and the Rock Island Moose. Ron and his wife Linda enjoy boating and camping as well as spending time with their children and grandchildren. Ron started with Esterdahl working part-time in 2002.


Greg attended Orion schools and graduated from Sherrard High School in 1979. He graduated from Carl Sandburg College of Mortuary Science in 1997. Greg and his wife, Jeanie, currently live in rural Sherrard and are members of Swedona Lutheran Church. Greg is active with the Knox County Alzheimer’s association. Greg has a daughter, Mollee, and a granddaughter Maylee. Greg is a licensed funeral director and embalmer.


Brad and his wife, Barb, have four children and live in rural Coal Valley. Brad owned and operated Norton’s grocery store in Orion for 20 years. Brad managed Pizza Hut Restaurants in the Quad Cities for 27 years. He joined the staff at Esterdahl in 2012.


Cam is a 1986 graduate of Moline High School and a 1991 graduate of Augustana College in Rock Island, Illinois. He is married and has four children. He began working at Esterdahl Mortuary in 2023. In his spare time, he enjoys coaching football and travelling with his wife, Cheryl.


Donna is a lifelong resident of Orion and a graduate of Orion High School. She was employed at Bank Orion for over 40 years, retiring in 2021 as a Retail Banking Officer. Donna joined the staff of Esterdahl Mortuary in 2024. She is an active member of Mary Our Lady of Peace Catholic Church in Orion. She enjoys spending time with her two children, and six grandchildren.


Gaby graduated from Moline High School in 2020 and later graduated from Black Hawk College in 2022. She started working at Esterdahl in September of 2023. Gaby is the youngest of four children in her family and is a member of the Illinois Paranormal Research Group. She enjoys listening to music, going to concerts, playing video games, reading, long boarding, and “ghost hunting.”


Gary grew up in Indiana, the son of a funeral director. He serves as pastor of Zion Lutheran Church in rural East Moline. Gary earned his Master of Divinity degree from Concordia Theological Seminary, Fort Wayne, Indiana, in 1987 and has served congregations in California, Michigan, Iowa, and Illinois. He also brings experience from his service as a military chaplain. Gary has been with Esterdahl since the fall of 2025. Gary and his wife, Karen, have two adult children, Justin and Katie. He is an avid golfer and podcaster, who also enjoys brewing beer in his basement and restoring old cars—currently a 1939 LaSalle sedan. It is Gary’s honor to assist the Quad Cities community by providing compassionate care and support to families during their time of loss. His congregation offers grief support workshops from time to time.


Kris graduated from Alwood High School in 2015. He went on to graduate with a Bachelor’s from Southern New Hampshire University and graduated from Carl Sandburg College of Mortuary Science in 2024. He is a licensed funeral director and embalmer, beginning as an apprentice at Esterdahl in 2024.


Todd graduated from Ottumwa High School, Ottumwa, IA in 1993 and Dana College, Blair, NE in 1998. Todd worked at a funeral home in Ottumwa during his high school years and college summers, learning all aspects of the funeral business. After college, he spent 20 years in various marketing roles, before returning to his first love, the funeral industry. His primary role at Esterdahl is helping people make their funeral arrangements in advance, ensuring that their loved ones don’t have to make those decisions at the time of a passing. Todd and his wife Becca, have one daughter named Miley, who is attending college in the Chigagoland area.

Luke graduated from Alleman High School in 1992. He is also a graduate of Worsham College of Mortuary Science. Luke is married to Stacy Appleman-Steen and is a licensed funeral director and embalmer as well as a certified crematory operator.

Larry Anderson is a lifelong resident of Orion. He is a 1964 graduate of Orion High School. Prior to joining the staff of the funeral home in 1999, he was an associate in the accounting department at Deere and Co. Larry stays active serving as Fire Chief of the Orion Volunteer Fire Department, president of the Orion Sportsmen’s Club, and the Orion Lions Club, where he is past president. Larry is married with two sons and three grandchildren.


Ron graduated from Moline High School in 1961 and received his bachelor's degree from Western Illinois University and a Master’s Degree from the University of Illinois. Ron and his wife, Linda were married in 1968 they have three children and seven grandchildren. Ron started teaching school in Alton, Illinois in 1965 and moved to Moline High School teaching from 1966 until 1999, retiring as Co-Op Coordinator. Greg attended Orion schools and graduated from Sherrard High School in 1979. He graduated from Carl Sandburg College of Mortuary Science in 1997. Greg and his wife, Jeanie, currently live in rural Sherrard and are members of Swedona Lutheran Church. Greg is active with the Knox County Relay for Life and is currently on the relay task force for the American Cancer Society. Greg is the proud father of his daughter, Mollee, and son-in-law, Michael. Greg worked at Esterdahl’s leaving in 1999 and is returning as a licensed funeral director and embalmer.
Brad attended Black Hawk College and was later self-employed at his family grocery store for 15 years. After that, he worked at Pizza Hut for 27 years retiring as a Store Manager. Brad began working at Esterdahl Mortuary in October of 2012. He and his wife, Barbara, are currently living in rural Coal Valley.
